Striped Bass Season April 12 - May 20:
On the Hudson River fishing charters we primarily target Striped Bass that are making an annual spring migration North up the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Striped Bass are present in the upper Hudson River from Albany, NY to Troy, NY where we fish for about 6 weeks in the spring, before they spawn in late May and head back out to the Atlantic Ocean.
On an average 5hr Striped Bass charter you can reasonably expect to catch 3-4 Striped Bass between 18-40" as well as several Channel Catfish between 4-10lbs, and dozens of 6-12" Alewife & Blueback Herring, which we will fish for to use as bait.
While we regularly have trips that catch 10 or more Striped Bass 3-4 is average. On slow days, and like everyone we do have slow days, we are thankful to have the Channel Catfish and Herring to fall back on, this is why we try to steer groups with children towards trips from May 6-20 when the water has warmed and there are more active Catfish and Herring present. On these later May trips we typically catch over 100 Herring and over a dozen Channel Catfish mixed in while fishing for Striped Bass.
While Hudson River fishing charters can very comfortably accommodate up to 6 people we do recommend trying to keep the Striped Bass charters at 4 people or less for more serious anglers, and scheduling larger groups or family groups with smaller children later in May. The current limit for Striped Bass in the Hudson river is 1 per person between 18-23".

- 5:30AM & 10:30AM Trips are $500 for 5hrs for 1-4 people $100 each additional person maximum of 6.
- 3:30PM Trips can be either 4hrs or 5hrs
- 4hr trips are $400 for 1-4 people 5hr trips are $500 for 5hrs for 1-4 people $100 each additional person maximum of 6.
